Dr. Niels Nes is the Information Technology head at the Dutch National research institute for Mathematics and Computer Science, (CWI, Amsterdam). He has been involved as a co-founder in successful data management startups such as MonetDB and Vectorwise in the past. He is the lead architect and developer of SQL front end stack for the open-source columnar database MonetDB.
Niels has been actively involved in infrastructure assistance, and technical assistance at HOLOFIL
since its early conceptualization days and has been an active adviser on various technical matters.
